Amanda Hite Moran, Director
Amanda Moran is currently in her 19th year of teaching in Georgia public schools. She started the orchestra program at JC Booth in 2002. During her nine years at JC Booth, the orchestra has been invited to perform at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., and at the Southern Star Music Festival in Atlanta, Ga. Her students performed at the 2007 GMEA convention in Savanah, Ga, and have consistently scored superior ratings at the 6th District Performance Evaluations. Before coming to JC Booth, Mrs. Moran taught orchestra in Clayton County for nine years. There she was a director at Mundy’s Mill Middle School for four years and Forest Park Middle School for the prior five years. She was also the co-director for the Clayton County Honor Orchestra in 1998-1999.
Mrs. Moran was born in Torrance, Ca. She started playing the violin in the third grade in the Glendale, Ariz., public school system. In 1982 her family moved to Fayetteville, Ga. She attended the University of Georgia on a music scholarship and received her Bachelor of Music Education in 1990.
Mrs. Moran has served as a clinician for Clarke County Schools, Co-organizer District 6 Performance Evaluation and Solo and Ensemble, Co-Director for the Clayton County Honor Orchestra, and organizer for the District 6 Honor Orchestra. She teaches private lessons on violin and viola, and plays the viola with the Southern Crescent Symphony. She is currently a member of the Music Educators National Conference and the Georgia Music Educators Association.
Mrs. Moran lives in Peachtree City, Ga., with her husband Patrick and 3 children Megan, Caleb and Miles.
